Update on BCMEA – ILWU Canada Longshore Negotiations

The BCMEA and ILWU Canada bargaining committees continued to meet last week and through the weekend with the assistance of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) officials.

Parties are anticipated to continue bargaining with the assistance of the FMCS next week.

At the time of writing, neither Party have issued 72-hour notice, nor have there been any labour disruptions.

Regular cargo and passenger operations at British Columbia’s ports continue uninterrupted.

Stability at our West Coast ports is paramount to Canada’s economic and social well-being. The BCMEA remains committed to good faith negotiations with the intent of reaching a fair and equitable deal at the bargaining table that recognizes the efforts of the workforce, while keeping our ports stable and goods flowing for Canadians.
